Here is my Thing 10 embedded video. I'm thrilled to be able to include comments and advice from my favorite mentor, Jim Fay! I especially liked this clip entitled: From Innocence to Entitlement.
In my Thing 9 blog entry, I expressed concern about policing kids on YouTube, but I now see how I can embed what I WANT students to see. Now the comment John made about embedding selected videos makes sense. I LOVE THIS!

Diane, that video clip was great!
ReplyDeleteFor Character Education, we could set up a blog the kids would be required to read weekly. It could include videos such as the one from Love and Logic and the kids would be required to make comments. When we finally get Smart Boards we could use the blog on the big screen and show off the videos and the comments made by the students during Health. Knowing their comments would be presented on a Smart Board may encourage kids to use thoughtfulness in their remarks.
I started a blog for my class just before break, as we will begin to read Romeo and Juliet when we return. They cannot blog at school due to server restrictions, but a few have responded from home.
ReplyDeleteThe pre-reading questions have received some interesting responses!
Diane your ideas are wonderful. As I have said Rhonda and I already started a blog, now it's just getting the word out there to students and parents and helping them see how useful it would be! I also live Jim Fay! Also, I was reading your other entry about comments on blogs and I totally agree. This already has been a wonderful learning experience and I am only half way through it. I would love to know what your blog is for your students just to read it and get some ideas as to how you are contructing your blog, hopefully all the staff will eventually take this course as I think everyone can learn something from it and implement it in their classroom.
ReplyDeleteI believe the end result of this experience will be a CMA Wiki, which could be the magic ingredient that facilitates positive communication not only between staff in the same house, but between all of the houses as well. I think we can sometimes get stale if we're not careful.
ReplyDeleteHere's the link for my Romeo and Juliet Blog so you can follow: http://cma-romeoandjuliet-2010.blogspot.com
Diane, I really liked your imbedded Love and Logic video. Good Choice! And Kim, I think you are right that all of the CMA teachers and assistants should take this 23 Things course. It will enlighten many of them to and require them to interact with the technologies available to them via the internet.
